How it works

From the wrong lot to the right one, in five steps.

Every screen here is the real product, recorded in a sample dealer group. A transfer takes a listing, a bid, two taps and a signature.

01

Set up in minutes.

Add a store and point Rooftop at its website. Dealer.com, DealerOn and Dealer Inspire sites bring their own inventory in: photos, prices, days in stock and all. No website? Use a feed, a spreadsheet or the API.

  • It reads a store's public inventory pages, follows robots.txt and never logs in anywhere.
  • Every vehicle keeps the day it entered stock, so age is real from the first import.
Rooftop: Set up in minutes.
02

List in seconds.

Open the unit that isn't moving. Rooftop suggests a starting bid from what an auction would actually pay you, and a Buy Now from what an auction would cost the buyer. Change either. Publish.

  • Your whole group sees it the moment it's live. Nobody outside your group ever does.
  • List one at a time, or prepare a whole aged tab at once.
Rooftop: List in seconds.
03

Bid in real time.

Sister stores see the high bid, never who placed it. $100 increments by default. A bid in the last two minutes adds two more, so nobody gets sniped.

  • One conversation per vehicle: the selling store answers once and every store sees it.
  • Or end it with Buy Now. Either way, the buyer is a store in your group.
Rooftop: Bid in real time.
04

Paperwork, handled.

The selling store confirms the car is still there. The winning bid stands as the buying store's approval, unless you want a GM or the group office to sign off above a threshold. Then the bill of sale is signed right from a phone.

  • A one-time code sent to a verified email confirms who is signing.
  • The signed PDF is sealed with its signature record and can be verified later.

05

Signed, sealed, delivered.

Both stores get the signed copy by email. Pickup, in transit, delivered: everyone follows the same timeline, and the transport cost is recorded on the deal.

  • You still move the car. Rooftop makes sure nobody has to ask where it is.
  • Reports shows what the group kept out of the auction lane, beside what the move cost.
Rooftop: Signed, sealed, delivered.

Who does what

Access is the authority.

Whoever manages a store lists, bids, approves and signs for it. You decide who that is, store by store.

Administrator

Sets up stores, people, billing and the group's rules. Acts for every store, and signs Rooftop's terms for the group.

Store manager

Lists, bids, approves and signs for the stores they manage.

Named signer

The one person a store names to sign for it, when you want signing kept to one desk.

View-only

Sees the marketplace, the transfers and the reports. Changes nothing.

What Rooftop doesn't do

Software. Not a middleman.

A transfer is between your stores. Rooftop is the record, not a party to it.

  • Titles and odometer statements stay with each store, as they do today.
  • Taxes, licenses and how your companies settle with each other stay with your accounting office. Rooftop never holds or moves money.
  • Transport is yours to arrange. Rooftop records it and tracks it.
  • Rooftop does not inspect vehicles, and is not a dealer, broker, auctioneer, agent, carrier or escrow holder.
